COMET RECEIVES AWARDS AT LIVE UNITED EVENT

(April 21, 2022) Columbia, SC – The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) received two awards at the Live United Awards hosted by United Way of the Midlands at Central Energy on April 20.

The COMET’s United Way Campaign efforts were led by Crystal Willis, who was also nominated for Campaign Director of the Year. Willis has served as a campaign director since 2017 and has been responsible for the organization capturing multiple awards in the Pacesetter, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Best in Class categories. This year’s awards were:

The Pacesetters Award -Pacesetters “set the pace” for the upcoming campaign, committing to at least a 10% increase in participation and employee giving.

and The Gold Award - Gold Awards are given to companies with an employee per capita gift of $150 - $399.

“The United Way does an impeccable job of serving the Midlands and we are honored to partner with them,” said Derrick Huggins, Interim CEO of The COMET, “Much credit goes to Ms. Willis for her dedication and hard work leading our team in this effort. It just underscores The COMET ‘s commitment to being good community stewards. We are proud to accept these honors.”

Fundraising efforts were accomplished by special events and direct contributions.
