At The COMET, we feel your pain. Having a car around campus is expensive. There’s gas, parking, insurance, repairs – and living off of mac-n-cheese and instant noodles can only do so much to help. So, for an affordable way to get around the Midlands Area, give The COMET a try.

Our fixed route system provides quick and easy access all over the place. As a commuter student, you can stop being late to class because you can’t find a parking space or getting a ticket because you couldn’t find enough quarters. We go to:

University of South Carolina – Benedict College – Allen University – Columbia College – Lutheran Seminary – UofSC School of Medicine – Midlands Technical College (both Beltline, Harbison, Batesburg-Leesville and Airport campuses) – Columbia International University and Remington College.

The COMET also serves many elementary, middle, high and continuing education schools of Richland One, Richland Two, Lexington Richland Five, Lexington Four and Lexington Two.  You can find your route to these schools by visiting our Routes webpage.

And, what would the college experience be without meeting friends out and attending local sporting events? Enjoy a little nightlife around town, including downtown, Five Points, the Vista area, Cayce and West Columbia and leave the driving to us. You can also take The COMET to major shopping destinations such as Columbiana Center and Columbia Place. We even have a game day route for Gamecock football games. You can hop on the SC Gamecock Express Route 2001 to meet your friends at the tailgate. And, because you’re on the SC Gamecock Express, you’ll get a free pass through all the traffic. And, yes, you can bring your cooler and you can eating and drinking (no alcohol) on the bus.

Students, employees and/or affiliates of Richland One, Richland Two, Lexington/Richland Five, Columbia College, Allen University, and Midlands Technical College can ride The COMET for free by showing their ID card.  UofSC students, employees and affiliates can only ride UofSC Transit for free by showing their ID card to the bus operator on Routes 13-20, 23, 24, 25 and 94.

The COMET operates UofSC Transit, which the services are available to the general public. Visit the UofSC Transit webpage for more details.
